Frequently Asked Question

I’m new here. How do I use the search page?

  • Select Hunting or Fishing at the top of the green Search Panel. More fields will appear. These are the Game/Fish type, Species, and Weapon (If applicable).
  • Select a Game/Fish type and any other data you want to search for. You don’t have to specify a Species or a Weapon choice.
  • Specify “Match All of the Previous Terms” or “Match Any of the Previous Terms”.
  • “Match All”, the results returned will match every criteria you searched for (So a Search for Elk (Rocky Mountain) in Idaho will only return Guides and Outfitters that offer Rocky Mountain Elk in Idaho.
  • A “Match Any” search will return Outfitters that offer Elk, or operate in Idaho.
  • At this point you can hit the Search button and results will appear. You can also search by date, location, or keywords.
  • With a Keywords search, the name and description of the trips will be searched. If you are looking for “Big Jim Outback Outfitters” enter keywords such as “Big, Jim, Outback”. “Outfitters” isn’t the best keyword to search for because it is so common.
  • After you hit the search button, your results will be displayed at the bottom of the page. Click the “More Information” link at the bottom of each entry to find out more. This will take you to a separate page with more details about that Outfitter.
  • If you are a Registered Member, you can save your search by clicking the “Save my Search” button. Give it a name in the box that pops up. You can access these saved searches on your “Personal Info” page.

Do I need to fill all of the different fields to do a search?

No, you only have to specify Hunting or Fishing at the top of the page to get started. You can be as broad or specific in your search as you want.

My Search didn’t return any results. What’s going on?

Most likely, no such trip exists that meets all of your search criteria. Here’s how to fix it:

  • i) Select “Match Any” instead of “Match All”
  • ii) Select “Any” for Location, Species or Weapon
  • iii) Search for a different species, location or Weapon. There are more entries for White tail deer than for Kamchatka Brown Bear.

I saved my previous search. Where do I find it again?

First, make sure you are logged in to your account. Then, click on the “Personal Info” link in the top right of the page. On your Personal Info page, you should see a list of all the Searches you’ve saved.

I keep seeing “Trial Membership does not include this feature” on the “More Information” page and the Results panels. What does this mean?

These guides, outfitters and charters have been entered in our database by our own staff on a trial basis. We don’t have accurate information in all categories for these entries. At a minimum, a contact email address is provided so you can contact that outfitter for more info.
